Dogs, Cats Victims of Ongoing Financial Crisis

Frankie has been touched by the nation's economic turmoil. The cat recently came in to Orchid Springs Animal Hospital in Winter Haven with severe digestive problems, and when veterinarian Mitsie Vargas called to tell the owner surgery would be needed to clear the blockage, the owner said she had lost her home and couldn't afford to pay for the procedure. She asked Vargas to euthanize the cat instead.
